Our History

40 Years of Singing

It was 1975 when a meeting of the trustees of Wetley Rocks Methodist Church made the decision to form an all male singing group.  This was the birth of Wetley Rocks Male Voice Choir, under the direction of Haydn Jones.  Since then the choir has been led by John Ellis, Allan Williams, Mike Cook, Simon Baker, and the current incumbent Ian Jones.  New members are always welcome, join us at rehearsal at Wetley Rocks Methodist Church on Monday evening for an informal listen and a chat.
Common themes throughout the 40 years have been a love of singing, good fellowship and entertaining audiences.  The choir performs regularly throughout the year, in the local area and further afield, often raising money for charity.  A highlight was the raising of £2500 for the Spina bifida charity Shine in 2013.
Joint concerts have been a regular feature of the choirs work, and the centre piece of our 40th anniversary celebrations is a concert with Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir from North Wales.
