We thought we had better try to grab our dates before the floodgates open.
I am proud to announce that during the two lockdowns we have aquired 3 new members who are really keen and can't wait to meet everyone at the first rehearsal
Here then is a warm welcome to Bill Downes, Julian King-Salter and Peter Lees. I know come the first rehearsal you will get a really warm welcome into the "gang" from everyone. Don't worry about not knowing anything, after such a long break you will be on par with everyone else 🙂 🙂 🙂
It is with great sadness that I am announcing the death of a chorister Tom Hitchcock. Tom lost his wife suddenly at the begining of this dreadful year whilst he was in hospital. He has sadly struggled with his health ever since, and after a torturous few months he lost his brave battle. He is now at peace and reunited with his beloved Edwina.
He will be greaty missed as a chorister and good friend. RIP Tom
Its been too long since any post was made Sorry :(
Last Friday I had the honour of representing the choir at Gill Ellis's funeral. Gill was the widow of a previous MD, John Ellis John was a talented composer and arranger and I had the priviledge of working with him many years ago on a production of Sound of Music which he was MD for All Saints Operatic Society. The show sold out and had to be repeated due to demand for tickets. Unheard of. Gill remained an avid follower of the choir which she still referred to as "John's Choir" Many will miss her. Sincere condolences to the family.
Just because we are unable to gather to rehearse we have not been sitting idle. I have been planning new musical items ready for when we "kick-off", hopefully next year. Russ, from the Bass section has recruited 2, possibly 3 new members during lockdown. There's no stopping him. A lesson for us all No reason not to try and recruit just because we are unable to rehearse.
Talking of rehearsals , the church, following a meeting of the local officials have decided to remain closed both for services and lettings. Once the currrent lockdown is over we "may " be able to plan small gropd to rehearse and we may be able to find a temporary venue. Full Covid Health and Safety assessments will be carried out and guidelines will be strictly followed . Fully understand that not all of you will be comfortable just yet. In due course we will contact all members individually .
Enough for now
Stay well and more importantly "STAY SAFE"
Hope to see you all soon
It's been 33 weeks since our last rehearsal; a lot has changed but our desire to sing has not. If we stick together, if we work together we can stronger (as one!)
Even before the government made their suggestions for personal safety and “shielding”, we made the difficult decision to suspend all rehearsals and postpone all imminent concerts in the immediate future.
Whilst we all love our singing, nothing is worth putting ourselves and others at risk.
BUT NEVER FEAR !!!!! We are not sitting idle. Clive asked if I had anything he could work on during our “break” and since I was already well underway preparing for our Christmas event, we both agreed now would be a good time for action. He is busy getting all the new music together and hopefully very soon, these will be posted to all members so that they can familiarise these new songs in preparation for us being able to get back together.
All I can say to all of our members and anyone reading this,
PLEASE stay safe
